“The idea that sex is something a woman gives a man, and she loses something when she does that, which again for me is nonsense. I want us to raise girls differently where boys and girls start to see sexuality as something that they own, rather than something that a boy takes from a girl.”

When Evil rears it's ugly head?

Remember this for those heads still in the clouds... Security is a superstition  and safety is blanket of illusion. You are only as safe to the extent that others can tolerate your existence. Most of us are only pawns in this big game of power struggle. Anything can happen at anytime.

#RIP Malaysian Plane crash Victims

Evil does not need a reason to read its ugly head. Evil is will consume you, point you out unbidden, unprovoked and unincited, decide to overthrow you without rhyme or reason. Evil lives power and the weight of supremacy is only measured in blood. Death is the only currency of any value.

You could commit an infraction against a man and regardless of how much you offer to pay to have that offence expunge, he might demand payment in blood. Nothing appeals more to the wicked like the devaluation or desecration of what a human being holds sacred... Their life...

How many of us will perish because of what others believe? It's strange how other mortals who value their lives often find it convenient to take the lives of another.

Let Go: Relationships

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go.

And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.

You've got to know when it's dead.

You've got to know when it's over. You all need to have the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay.

Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to . . . . . . . .

When the poor boy get rich?

when the tear up batty pants bwoy start drive x5...all of a sudden he is treating ppl the way people use to treat him..like the slave who becomes a master and in order to feel less of a slave he too has to enslave, belittle and demean others...the only way you can feel truly values is by devaluing others. I think not.

In order for people to shake off their feelings of inferiority when they elevate in life... They must treat people like shit, ironically the way people use to treat them when they were nobodies. Superiority is essentially commanded not demanded. If you deserve respect and clout, you will get it, you don't have to diss ppl. They might fear you but they will never respect you or value your life.

What if all of my Facebook friends were white?

What if all my Facebook friends were white?

When I was kid I heard Ron Muschette on the radio saying that if wealth or the directions to finding diamonds, was in a book then the black man would never find it. I was around thirteen year old but I understood perfectly what he meant, I heard the maxim before, it meant black people rarely read and there fore the best place to hide something from them would be in a book.

It is embarrassingly so. We are further behind in the "race" of life because knowledge holds the truths to the evolution of mankind and we stray everyday further and further away from anything that remotely involves an investment in reading.

There are a few local groups online mainly Facebook, geared at soci-political upliftment. I observed the responses to posts in these groups with relation to likes and commentary. Try posting a profound statement and watch the likes and comments you get on a forum of twenty thousand Facebook members. Now look at the amount of likes and comments a poster gets for a flyer for a party on independence weekend in comparison You are liable to find the same twenty people liking your post and commenting on it, twenty times over.  What happened to the other nineteen thousand plus members? Now post a picture of a frivolity and before long, it is granted over fifty likes.

I sometimes chalk this down to not having enough white friends. Black people claim that white people are superficial, maybe they should check themselves. They enjoy spending their entire lives copying everything white, abandoning and denouncing anything black and moving up to kiss ass behind white people. They are as meretricious as the white folks they complain about. They act like they all black but in reality hate themselves, take for instance a lot of Jamaican reggae singers, Rastafarians married to white or high brown skin women yet preach black consciousness and black beauty in their music. They probably can't help it, most black men see a relationship with a fair skin woman as exotic, exciting and superior.

Nothing scares black people more than the success of another black person. It highlights their own inadequacy, they become enraged, angry at the achieved for showing the world that success is attainable if only one put their minds to it. It discredits the excuses of racism, classism and Slavery that many of use to hide behind why we have largely failed as a race in-spite of our many successes.

Well some might say they don't read long post because they do not have the time, there are people out there using social media to enlightened the masses, posters and forum moderators becoming disillusioned because they have come to realize that Jamaicans are not interested in anything remotely revolutionary or profound.

Those in the diaspora love nothing more than coming online to beat their chest about why they would never set foot on Jamaican soil again when they left families who while not actively but passively contributing to mayhem they talk about in their vitriol. They are part and sunder of the problems we have as a people, it is a mental issue. Instead of offering words of encouragement, they gloat in the failures of their country, firing off in malicious satisfaction trying to find a way to justify their notion that it is the worst place on earth and they are happy that they left. They will find every way of highlighting the bad about this country, look at the Gleaner and Observer commentary section, lot of comments when the news is bad and three or so comments when successes are highlighted among our people.

I guess our ancestors probably said the same thing about Africa when they boarded the slave ships or no, the local slaves horned in the America's wasted no time in telling them how inferior they were because they hailed from the motherland.

Black people have some serious issues with success. They have a "climb on top of everyone in my race mentality" while remain under those outside my race's  conviction. Look at how a black Jamaican security guard treats his Chinese employer as opposed to how he will publicly disrespect, insult and humiliate his black employer. Often drawing reference to the skin of the soil to reinforce his belittlement, telling him that despite what you have achieved you are no better than me because you are still black.

Think about how black people in a dominantly dark skin country like Jamaica treat other black people when they come to do business especially in the service industry. The receptionist is liable to treat you with blatant disregard, usher you to a waiting chair with a look of disgust on her face and regard your impatience with overall contempt. She would blather away on the phone ( hence why when you call you get a busy signal), do a million things on the computer before responding to your queries and in many cases you will end up leaving there without the information you wanted because the receptionist does not know anything about the company she works in.

Now watch the receptionist perk up when a white, high brown or Chinese individual enters the room. She will go above and beyond to get the necessary information, respond in a saccharine tone and with a permanent smile plastered on her face, twinkles in her eyes.

We have been taught to hate and to treat each other with contempt, never allowing anyone to feel they are better than us if they are the same colour. The receptionist can't help the way she is because she was socialized to believe her education albeit fragmented makes her very bright and superior to other black people. Her parents encouraged her to treat those whom were below her ( dunces and those from
poor homes with disregard), she has carried over those values into adulthood.

Herein lies the theory for our failed system of education, we have smart black people with the wrong values. Smart black people who regard education as status instead of liberation unless we get our values right and get back to the books then we won't ever improve the plight of our people.

Am not interested in us conquering the world, I just want us to be able to help and support each other since very few people outside will. Just imagine black writers probably get more support from non black readers than their own kind. We spend a lot of time waiting for "others" to validate the success of our people before we embrace or give them support.

I once had a white friend whom I dearly loved and she was a good friend indeed until she started dating a black man from my area and everything changed. The black man made up conjectures about me and left out everything about himself. I did not quarrel with my friend, our friendship deteriorated, he made me out to be an opportunist. He won because she failed to see that he was destroying our relationship so that he could get what he wanted out of her. She didn't see it until it was far too late.

I once heard a story that a black man could never own a bank. If he did succeed in getting his own people to bank there, they would watch him like a shark, and if he shows prosperity such as buying a new house, his black brothers would believe he stole from them. They would insist that they wanted back their monies and no doubt run his business into bankruptcy. Don't think you can explain this to them, they are more interested in getting back their money than the legalities of the business.

Black people will jump through hoops and do everything possible to ensure that you don't make it to the top. Yet they can never invest the same amount of enthusiasm and tenacity into fueling their own success because it is always easier to be a destroyer and a hater than to lend support to each other.

Know your Jamaican Man Patterns

When it comes to dating a Jamaican man, he can say anything to you and you might believe, you are even entitled to believe his actions but you must never doubt a man with a glaring pattern. Am not saying that you should pull out your Nancy Drew glasses and start an investigation on your new beaus dating history. People do change but a man with twelve kids, seven baby mothers, a white wife in Pennsylvania and a side chick that owns the bar in the town is not a man you want to invest your time muchless vagina with.

Another pattern you cannot turn your eyes away from is the man who is obviously in transition. The man who is separated from his wife, living with his baby mother and two year old son yet asking for your number is a guy who is a serial cheater and you are his next statistic. He is not over his wife since that baby is barely two and he lives with a chick that he will no doubt cheat on with you, he's basically feeding you the same bull crap he fed them.

Patterns never lie. The guy who dates a slew of women who loom a certain way them suddenly decides he wants a change in his type of woman. He is either tired of the monotony of women he's been with or you have something he wants that none of his type can give him. A man with a track record of dating supermodel chicks don't just stir up an appetite for a plus size darling and her thirty inch waist. The plus size chica has something he wants wherein he is willing to overlook his tastes for, it might not be a bad thing but have to be alert. You cannot let your guard down.

There's a trend among certain men especially those financially well off who dumped their thirty year old wife or baby mother that they have been with since she was eighteen for a college freshman with a round buttocks who is a schoolmate of his eldest son from his first relationship. This trend should tell a smart chick that this guy only dates young women and if you have no intentions of getting old then you can hop onto his lap. Whatsoever he did to them he will do it to you too even if it means he has one foot in his grave.

Am not saying be specific about a dude because people do change along the way but at a certain age it takes a lot to break relational habits. Some of these behavioral traits are so entrenched that the chances of this man changing in this lifetime would be incredulous. Know your patterns, be an ace before you break a heart.

I was once a servant to others!

I give thanks to the people who "used" me because It is within these moments of exploitation that I am exposed to the intrinsic nature of the human capacity. We are all uniquely selfish people, we simply go about our self serving pursuits differently. We are all self seeking creature s struggling to fulfill our destinies.

The subtle lessons of selfishness and how we are all committed to achieving our egocentric goals with little regards for those we step on in the process is evident in how we are dedicated to individual success than aspiring for group progress as children in the classroom. We accuse others of egoism when they choose themselves over us. We want others to sacrifice themselves to see us succeed, It is this brand of narcissism that is creating the problems we see in the world today.

I recall finding myself attracted to start up businesses, believing that within every new entrepreneur I met who employed me because of my drive and passion to succeed: that I could maximize my own talents. I saw in them what I wanted for myself and admired them for taking that tentative step to fulfill their dreams. I didn't particularly liked the way my dreams were tied to theirs. If they failed, I would be a failure and I would have wasted time building someone else dreams, while my goals lay sideline in the creative clutter of my mind.

The difference between these business people and those from my streets is that while my people will sit and wait on one of us to make it in hopes that the rest will benefit, these exploiters don't ride on the dreams of others, they grab this bull of a life by its horn and pull it into submission, trampling the cow hands in the process.

I believed more in their dreams than they did in their own ideas. I worked often without much salary, often times frustrated but hopeful that things will improve as long as I was around. These exploiters taught me to have faith irrespective of the dreary circumstances in my own abilities. I was committed to seeing it through while on the other hand my employers were more interested in getting rich.

They could no longer afford to pay me. I would have to worked to earn my salary which means unless the company was making a profit,I would not be compensated. If my  efforts proved futile, I would have earned nothing.

I learned to work even when I was not receiving any financial compensation. I was building my dreams and therefore I found no sorrow in working without pay. I applied my faith to my own abilities, confident that it will work out in the end.I am not ashamed of once being a slave to others, it taught me how to a better person and to rise above servitude with nobility.

I am grateful for my experiences, they have shaped who I am. And even if this sliver of a life means nothing to others, I have made myself valuable to me.

What does Justice mean to black people?

Hating someone is quite easy  because hatred does not require a great deal of thinking. No truly intelligent person will loathe someone on the grounds of it feeling right to hate....

#Crystal Evans Jamaica

I was reading an article in the Atlanta Black star online feature illustrating twelves pictures of lynched Negroes. They even had one with Negroes on postcards. I saw families gathered together, children dressed up to witness the burning of a Negro at the stake.

I wondered which parent or what kind of society believe this was ok to treat a other human being like this and have their children witness it. It was the law but it was not right. There is a greater law that governs us all. The law of cause and effect. We are bounded by the strands of this universe to be retributed by sheer tantric nature of this life for every  drop of innocent blood shed returning earth to its karmic balance.

Some negroes that died may have deserve it but slavery does terrible things to a man's sense of right or wrong. We cannot expect human behaviour from people living in inhumane conditions.

Just imagine if some negroes decide it would be ok to lynch and burn whites for the distress they put their black ancestors through. Even so no one has been held accountable for what happened to Africa because of slavery and black people were never given any justice. No white person has been arrested for enslaving a human being or for using degrading references about another persons race.

Blacks were subjected to indignities  and further injustice up until a few decades ago and even so racism still exist in pockets around the world. I don't know which white man could convince me of how " learned and intelligent" he is because he asserts that I am inferior by virtue of the way I look. My appearance, my race, I have no control over. We don't choose to be black. It's sheer ignoramus for a man to label my brother by virtue of his phenotype that he is doomed to a life of crime and early death. If you teach a child to be pessimistic about his existence, how can you expect anything positive from him. He's been inculcated to believe that nothing good is expected of him. Imagine how a black man with money is automatically labelled as being involved in something illegal...where I  from no one questions a white man's wealth but a black man... Whole different story...

I know slavery crippled the black spirit. It is the ghost of the slave that is in our genes that makes us tolerate injustices and will quickly deem our brother a criminal than stand up for him. We have been proselytized to believe that nothing good comes out of being black. Therefore all black men are from birth on their way to Jails and the morgues instead of the Universities.

This brainwash is what makes Jamaicans  abroad think they are better than "Yardies" because they live and work beside the white man. It is what makes the Jamaican thinks he is superior to the African because he lives closer to western civilization, the same civilization that was built on the blood of his ancestors. The Black America who believes himself better than his island black brothers or the European Negro who believes himself superior to all other blacks because he lives in a white man country. The closer you are to anything black, the lower the perspective is towards your situation, the closer you are to white people, the better and safer you feel. I once heard a Jamaican Farm worker claim that he wants to live beside "bare white people". Said he was Tyad of black people and their issues.

It was earlier this night, I saw a Jamaican living in Wisconsin wrote in a response to the killing of 250 civilians by the police last year. She said that we should all suck it up and tell our families to stop doing crime. I quickly wondered if she somehow thought a "bay criminal live down here". She maybe right. They say Jamaica is a haven for criminals. So she must be referring to the crime network involving police, politics, businessmen and women, scammers etc. For some reason I know she's not talking about the criminals in high places.

I realize controversial police killings  in the United States often involve black males from the Hood. It is a universal belief that all black males are potential criminals and should be shot on sight. I bet Ms Wisconcin would be more sympathetic to the fatalities if perhaps they were high brown or white complexion. That's just my opinion.

Just imagine dark skin police officers shooting 250 white people. As I said, purely utopic. I don't think for a minute that any white guy would be shot on sight don't care how much him name a call upon gun... Just my opinion in my creole language.

What is right is not hard to dismiss. We have come too far as a race to be sliding back into regression. Almost every nation run by a black man is in shambles economically. What does that say about us as a people? Look at the first black republic, Haiti, poorest country in this hemisphere. South Africa is the fastest growing economy because it is rumored control by European descendants and black Africans are not allowed too much free "rein". It appears everything black people put their hands on goes to ruin.

But we are a race of leaders and forerunners. We spend too much time on Slavery and not sufficient time on the accomplishments of the carthinagians, Kemets and Nubian civilizations. Our story did not begin, end nor is it centered arounf slavery
To be continued ...

Family structure contributing to the cycle of poverty in Jamaica

People say time hard yet I see Jamaicans wearing expensive clothes and hairstyles. I cannot understand how you can afford to maintain a particular appearance and yet your children cannot go to school nor can you provide their nutritional needs.

I am of the opinion that we need to establish a statutes that precludes women of a certain financial background from having a certain amount of children. This might sound prejudicial or even classist but it is consistently factual that our lawless young men are often from a background of a struggling single mother with too many children.

It simply means that the mother who fails to adequately provide for her children will often lead children to find creative and illegal ways of fending for themselves when they are old enough to understand their economical situations. Look at it this way. The woman who lives in the one room house with the five children has a higher percentage rate of. Inadvertently contributing to the crime rate in the next ten years.

Her son will become ashamed of the one room house that he lives in by time he attends high school. He will try to hustle to change or improve his mother's and siblings financial status. This is one of the reasons why we have so many teenage scammers. The teenage boy will most likely stop going to school either because he cannot afford it or his new found "job" is providing so much money that school now seems obsolete.

This "job" that he gets will in most circumstances be illegal. His mother might it may not be cognizant of where he is getting money from to feed their family. Chances are he will end up in jail or in the morgue by way of his own circles or police officers. This mother might lose several sons to criminality and lawlessness because every younger son will attempt to either improve or undone what the eldest died for. These boys have a misconception about masculinity. They believe that their manhood is defined by how dangerous they appear to society.

There is a flip side to story. The single mother's daughters will leave home early to live or sleep with an older man who can assist in financing her eduction. The mother will allow this because she cannot afford to supplement the needs of the teenage daughter including clothes and school money. If the teenage daughter is not smart or the man involved does not love her. She will get pregnant and bring another mouth to feed into her mother's house to feed.

The cycle of poverty continues threefolds and spans generation until someone decides to put and end to it and start another family history.

The cycle is perpetuated by the teenage daughters children who might end up like herself or her brothers. Young men who die from a life of criminality often leave children behind who has mothers similar to their own mothers. We have a family with career criminals and matriarchal family structure that is transgenerational in Jamaica.

My beef with women in Jamaica that have too many children or who do not pay specially attentions to the needs of their children is that they are creating menaces to society without even knowing it. I know our women can do better because I know women with several children who made sacrifices to ensure that their children become good adults and have better futures than they did.

People Mistakes and some
Of us have to make them several times before we understand  fully understand the scope of our choices. You have no choice in the consequences of your actions but you must remained committed to improving your life and that of your children.

Be careful what you do with your child. What you teach him and the type of behaviors that you encouraged. The rest of the world will have the live with that person that you created. If he becomes a liability to his society the you will surely bury him.

Jamaican Attitudes: Gossips and Rumours

I remembered how Brother Man described the tongues clacking in the street. It was an illustration of the power of wind moving across vocal chords. Humans have built kingdoms and destroyed nations simply by using their mouth.

The Ghetto is no different. Mouth kill cock is a popular adage among elders in the Ghetto. It is a place where contriving stories, spreading lies and permeating gossip can land you in a coffin. People embrace a philosophy that if a story don't go so then it near fe go so. It's a profound perspective that rumours and gossip are half truths. News spreads like wildfire.

Bars, trees, restaurants  and grooming parlours  are havens for replaying and embellishing the life stories of others. Tragedies are recounted with amusement and every story, regardless of how grisly or tragic is verbalized with colorful  characterization.

The tongue is a venomous weapon. Its serpentine appearance is consistent with the poisonous utterances that often flickers off its pink exterior.

Within the cackle of malignance, there are always voices of reason. People who are dedicated to teaching, healing and helping with the aid of their tongue unlike others whose main concern is creating drama.

People who use their mouth too much never quite understand the effect that blathering away can have on any society. Many a men have died because of things others have said, sometimes  innocently and others deservingly. The tongue is as lethal as any tangible weapon on this earth.

Martin Luther king moment

mommy loves you...rocka my baby please don't cry...jah know say the living Aint easy and the miminun wage them a pay can't feed we. Jah please shine you sun on her. Let me reach to the sky and jah please don't make those who want to hurt me tun pon her...

Do people have a calling? People will tell you that I am very emotional about humanity and justice. I have been like this since I was a teenager, it is a natural element of my personality.

There was a time when I wanted more than anything to liberate and empower our women. Now I have moved past that phase and is more interested in freeing the minds of our society. I believe on the element of change and that "change Gwine come".

I have ways cared too much about people and often sought to bring out the best in even the worst in our society. But it is not easy coexisting with people whose only desire in life is to foment the demise of others.

I don't keep men interested long enough because my values and perception do not coexist with theirs. I am a revolutionist therefore I cannot be with people who only think about their personal ambitions and not the overall elevation and progression of our society.

I do not understand why poor people are a walking parody of  fear. They are overall trepidated for their  lives and believe for the most part that they cannot control their destinies. They have tried too many times to turn their lives around and have failed.

I hate superstition because they stymie the progress of people by crippling them with unreasonable fear. I despise people who only understand their value in terms of how others perceive them and therefore their self worth is inestimable at the mercy of others opinion. I refuse to live my life in such a way that i put a muzzle over my mouth because i am trepidated by what others might thing. whether you say it or not, they are still thinking it. You have no control over people's thought...People do not really value you base on your worth but on the grounds of whatever preconceived notion that they have in their heads. JUST TIRED OF WALKING AROUND ON EGGSHELLS ABOUT THE REALITY WE LIVE IN...HAVING A MARTIN LUTHER KING MOMENT...

Do you think I am fighting a losing Battle?

Trying to empower poor people to create opportunities, shape more clement destinies, pursue knowledge as it is the gateway to a better social life and encourage unity because without a unified society we can never conquer the scourge of crime.

Trying to get poor people to be introspective and exoteric about the choices that they make in their lives.

Solve their conflicts without resorting to violence and, undermining the notion that killing people does not solve our problems, it only eliminates a source and before long we will be call upon to rectify another issue. That is one of the biggest issue with crime, it's mostly about people opting to eradicate the source of their conflict than trying to resolve their issues.

Ghetto people should be made to understand that their electorate position is not a parody. The levity with which they exercise their only say in how they govern their country should be taken seriously. It should be analysed in a group instead of voting because of allegiance and or personal ambitions. Our choice of leader should benefit our nation instead of designated segment of society.

I will say Hi to the cleaning lady at the bank because I am sonder. I might have a conversation with the garbage collector because I am sonder. I don't take people for granted because I am sonder. I value every single person I have had the pleasure to share my life with them and theirs vice versa because I am sonder. I amhurt and filled with anguish when a life is lost within my circle or even that of others who skulk just on the outskirts of my life because I am sonder
sonder
n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

Ahhh Epic isn't it???

What are we teaching our babies?

A little boy startled me yesterday from behind a park truck, he apparently hid me and came out from behind the truck in a "stick up situation" with a paper gun in his hands.

I scold him. I said to him rather angrily " is this what you parents sending you to school to learn to ambush people with gun?". "Don't worry yourself. The police them out deh Fi you. You think Gun business is a fun business. It is no joke business. It is a death without justice business"

I was miffed by the fact that this three year old understood the concept of hiding and sticking up people with a gun.

What was most revealing was that he left his home a few blocks away and was alone on the road by himself.
I only hope his creative imagination can be transmitted into something more productive so that his mother won't have to bury him later.

The Good Samaritan

I notice something about poor people and it is that when you decide to offer them a helping hand they take it as an opportunity "live pon you".

It is as if an act of kindness is interpreted as a demonstration of weakness. People believe you open yourself to exploitation.

I often extend a helping hand to people with children and people who are in need because I often feel sorry for the Children.

But I know I run a very serious risk by helping people to feed these children especially boys who might end my life later.

My grand mother tells me that if you ever feel sorry for mawga dogs, they will turn round and bite you. Someone might add, how can one be sympathetic with or be sorry for the very same people who short of reason will get rid of you in the blink of an eye.

I've realise that it is easy for people who are not from the ghetto to condemn me. Its true. I must be in support of the lawlessness, decadence and criminality that flourishes in the Ghetto. I can never be an intellect or one of them and have any empathy for people who chose a illicit, mundane and reckless behavior as their modus operandi.

Why do I fight for people who by all means do not want to be apart of my warfare.  I should probably let them fight their own battles. I am fighting a losing war. I am putting my fragile existence in jeopardy for a people who by all accounts do not care about me.

I do not back lawlessness but I am very supportive of the human condition. I believe every human being is rehabilitative. We have a choice. We must choose the type of life that we want to live but circumstances renders some of us option less. We just have to work with what we get.

Some people are lucky not to be related to any "scum of the earth" so they think it gives them right to label and judge people. I often believe that it they would come off their high horse and live the life of one of these persons for a day, they might gain more perspective into how "easy" they think it is to survive on "worthless" neegga level.

How can someone who has never lived in these social circumstances be in an advantageous position to decide what they think people who are within that capacity should think.

The Reality of the World we LIVE in

I often wonder why Africa was considered one the wealthiest places on earth and the people who lived their were the poorest people on the planet. Texaco and Shell made billions of dollars yearly yet the people who lived in vicinity of these oil reserves are some of the poorest people on mother earth.

I conceded that it has a lot to do with the powers that may be. The people who live in the area could not effect the political process involved with changing the statusquo of the area because they were not at the helm, they did not have the reins.

Someone I grew up with recently suggested that people who scammed should go and plant fields as a form of employment. I realise that she was probably right. Agriculture has always been reserved for the not so very bright and those without a future. It maybe the reason why parents deterred their children from becoming farmers because of its association with poverty and slavery. Now i live to hear a liberal Arts major telling me that my people should all go back to farming.

It is easier said than done. When these young men plant products, who will buy it from them. It could work, we need to eat more of our own products as imports and the sliding US dollar is killing our economy. But would the powers that maybe: be interested in buying from the young farmers.

Would our government be interested in investing 50 million dollars in creating processing plants for the excess fruits from fruit trees instead of renovating the homes of wealthy politicians?

Would our manufacturers and importers be interested in having a legislative ban on imports and force our people to utilised local produce?

I wonder how many of our intellectuals and Wealthy people would give us farmers a part of their incomes as an investment in such a proposed worthwhile venture.

Who stands more to loose if a project like this ever takes effect?

My friends who know better think I fight for people who do not care about me as a person.
They may have a valid point. My community and poor people does not respect me or even value my opinion because the lifestyle that I encourage is not one that they think will give them the instant gratification that they need.

Many people think that I should just leave Ghetto people to their own wits and ends. Move uptown and treat them with condescension. It is a healthy suggestion but there are many young people, stalwarts in their academical area who are afraid to come back and live in their natal communities. To give back to the community that nurtured them because they are afraid of jeopardising their lives. I want to make Jamaica a place where our university students have no issue coming back to their parental communities and working to uplift instead of migrating elsewhere.

My father was not the best parent emotionally or psychologically. My mother had her issues but as an adult when I hear them talking I realise that something happened during their formative years that made them into the adults they were. I am force to see them as the children they were and not the adults they are today. I know that''s how mothers of young men who commit crimes see their children. They do not see them as a murderer, they see them as the babies they once held.

Some people will not understand our plight. It is not for them to be able to sympathise with those that they consider beneath them. We do not justify criminality. We embrace and emphasise humanity. The human being who makes mistakes, who tries as best as possible to survive his conditions. I clamour for those who cannot speak for themselves, who know what they want but are unable to voice it.

I know that this task is not an easy one. Most Revolutionist are dead. I also know that the people I often defend do not value their lives the way I do. They do not even care. Someone once said to me that if I believe that any one of these young people would have been so intensely passionate about my demise as I am about theirs?

Would they even care if I die tomorrow? They probably don't because I see talentless people waste thousands of dollars while budding entrepreneurs with great ideas have to struggle to bring their goals to fruition. Many Inventors died penniless and people who did not care about the advancement of our living conditions get recognised for creating genocides.

I will continue to say it. We do not need more professionals. We need teachers, healers, lover, philanthropist and Humanitarians. We need people to teach our societies to care more and love more. Despite what you think you have, it is only your human interactions that count. The time you spent with your friends and family is what will evidently count when you die.

I would have exchanged all the money in the world a loved one has if I could get back his life because in my opinion, it was not worth it. I would rather have my family here than have his possessions to look at. They mean nothing without him around.

Police Officers and Our Young Men in Jamaica : Did the Police Officer Abuse his power here?

I was reading the comments of people responding to this video on you tube with a well known police officer and a school boy where the boy apparently refused to go on the bus and the police officer by all means use brute force to request a search of his bag and ushered him quite abrasively on to the bus. I too have seen children who are so intransigent that only crude tactics and verbal abuse can veer them into respect and response.

I understand that the police officers intentions were quite meaningful. I will not undermine the need for our children to be scold more often so that they can lead better lives as an adult. But we as a country already know that beating them, roughing them up, cussing them and doing all manner of evil has not done very much for this society.

I believe that if we should kill ten of these boys remember tomorrow twenty more will rise up if we do not find ways to campaign against the way we embrace certain convictions as a people. Police have been abrasive with young men and have been abusing their "powers" for years and yet we have not seen a change in the way our young men act. apparently we need to try something new. SEE you people up here are too busy rancouring over the wrong perspective and failing as always to see the bigger picture. we need a social intervention and we need it fast. i understand police officers are stressed, frustrated at the demands that are placed at their foot because parents and people like you up here have failed our children and then unoo expect police officers and teachers to guide them. UNoo just make sure that no police officer no do this to nobody fe unoo. LIke so many Jamaicans we all think that what happen to other people cannot happen to us...show mercy, if you do not, mercy shall be eternally far from you...gain a higher consciousness...

It is not our job to render violence for violence because violence only begets more violence. Do you know why crime will never be eliminated because when a police or a gun man murders someone family member, there are people in that family who will harbour resentments or hatred towards the offender and also will feel inclined sometime in the future to take a vendetta. The officer may have responded the only way he knows how to.

We know that parents have failed our children but this did not stem only from the previous generation. It is something that has been evolving over years of socialisation and came to fruition now. Parents are teaching their children, the only thing that they know because in truth, parents lack foresight. They do not know or see how what they teach their children will affect this society in the years to come.

We have a culture of people who for the most part have socialized our children to loathe the police officers because of years of abuse of power and extra judicial killings. On the other hand we understand that the police officer may have overused his authority in this situation and this has past professional into what may be considered unconstitutional. He had well meaning intentions and I get the message that he was trying to bring across but he apparently did not use an approved tactic.

I have heard people scream many times when they have conflicts with others about "a that's why gunshot cant stop buss inna this". I too have been caught guilty of this sometimes because people have a way of rubbing you and then adding salt to your grievous injury. We do not understand that children do not become what we want, they become who we are. The boy was saving face before his friends and the police was also exercising his authority before the other adults who were witnessing. No one was taking any losses.

We are quick to disrespect the police officers but how many of us have indirectly taught our children to hate the police man but respect the gun man. Our children have embraced the notion that only bad men are revered obviously by the way we are quick to publicly decry a police man yet none of us would dare video a murder and post it online.
None of us would show any temerity to openly decry the murder or abuse of our children by vicious citizens in our society but yet we are not afraid to show our face in decrying the acts of a lone policeman. We definitely need a social reformation. I bet if the police man had roughed up a notorious member of our communities, no one would dare openly denounce the actions of the policeman. When I renounce violence I try not to spare anyone. What is good for the goose is also good for the gander...

I know our police officers are under pressure. The monstrosity of crime continues to rear its head and they seem to not be able to curb it or kill it. They know that people are putting the blame on them for not being able to stop crime. But crime and violence is not a police officers thing or a politician thing. It is a family and community thing. I look at these babies and wonder what they will become as adults which one of them might be paid by some crook to take my life. I know that these teenage mothers do not know any better than they did at twelve and therefore cannot possibly teach their children any better. We need a social campaign! We need a reformation now. We need to censor certain entertainment in our society and we need to do it fast before this gets out of hand.

"One Love: Jamaican Blogger Tag"

I was going through the Jamaican community of Bloggers and discovered this on many of the Blog Sites `

THE RULES FOR THIS TAG:

-Title your post “One Love: Jamaican Blogger Tag”
-Link back to the blogger who tagged you ( you may add a brief definition of what a tag is if you for the benefit of your readers)
-Copy and paste the rules at the beginning of your tag.
-Copy and paste the questions as well so readers know what’s going on.
-Answer the questions (No duh!)
-Tag seven other (untagged) Jamaican bloggers to continue the trend. Kinda forces you to make friends, no?

The questions are as follows:

1.Why did you give your blog its name?

Haha actually I got the name from a Guy i used to date . Kudos to Doctor Rohan Mullings for that name (such a smart ass). I wanted to write about how i was feeling at the time, I had fallen rather sickeningly in love with some random guy and writing was a form of therapy for what i was going through and when other women started emailing me about their relationship issues. I decided that I might want to do this not for me but for other women too.

2. Why did you start blogging and why do you blog now?

Because it offered me a platform to say what I wanna without having to censor my writings and also gain audiences for the books I published.Blogging is my life. I started out as an aperture for venting my feelings and it has morphed into a podium where i can pontificate my ideas and perspectives upon my audiences. I think writing has always been apart of me i mean, you do not come second place in Jamaica in CAPE literatures IN ENGLISH FOR NOTHING.

3. Do you think being Jamaican influences your blogging style?

Yes it does. I mean I have lived in Jamaica, all my life and its culture intrigues me at times and some other times, I wanna run away and not come back here at some of the antiquated beliefs that so many Jamaicans have. It is a unique kind of place with a complex set of people bonded by similar historical and social elements.

4. What do you think about the increase in Bloggers in Jamaica?

It is a good look, it means that people are thinking and writing and I am glad that so many of us who do not have a platform like a local newspaper where we can share our ideologies are afforded opportunities to express themselves. I have been reading other blogs by Jamaicans and I am impressed by what I have encountered and some of the stories that are out there.

5. What is your favourite thing about being Jamaican?

I like the creativity of our people and if most of us were afforded the opportunity to express our myriad of talents then that would be a move forward towards the progression of our society. Most Jamaicans are blunt and I think it is good that my Jamaican parents don't grow cowards as I observed in some other cultures. I mean children are taught from your young that this world is a cruel, evil place. Parents do not really sugar coat reality in Jamaica. What you see is what you get.

6. Ackee and saltfish or “ (mackerel) run down”?

Definitely a ackee and salt thing. me love it with the white rice and everything else. I love tin mackerel if a that you a ask and the mackerel with the ackee and some pumpkin rice. yeah a me that.

7.Stew peas or stew chicken?

Haha i love stew but i love stew chicken, with a little pepper and some ketchup with a little sugar in the gravy...old time style yuh know.

8. Tastee Patties, Juici Beef Patties or Mother’s?

JUici beef my thing deh especially the cheese patty. lick lick lick

9. Pantucky or KFC?

DWL. This is a hard one, love my jerk chicken and yes the occasional Kingston fowl coop. but Jerk chicken with roast breadfruit or a piece a bread is definitely more finger lickin than kfc because i hate all that fry food in one sitting but love kfc still.

10. What do you hope to be the future of blogging in Jamaica?

With the advent of the Jamaicablogawards i think that blogging has a great future in Jamaica, moreso as i said before that this coming generation is committed to social media and will be turning to the internet for information on their culture either or recreation or scholastic studies. We the blogosphere are here to fill that gap by providing content that is credulous, witty, educational and engaging for this new computer/reader generation that is coming up.

What are my beliefs? What defines Crystal Evans?

Have perseverance as one who doth forever endure, thy shadows live and vanish, but that which is in thee shall live forever more;that which is in thee know, for it is of knowledge, not fleeting life, it is the man that was, that is, for whom the hour shall never strike!

The Voice of the Silence HP, Blavatsky

What constitutes Crystal Evans? Why am I here? Why am I different from most people I know! Why do I make discord with the societal instruments that existed long before I was conceived in my mother's womb.

Why do I interrogate the core beliefs of the society that I live in? Why do I challenge men to treat women better? Big Society to give the youths a chance or Criminals to realize how ,much their behavior is detrimental to the advancement of this noble race? The human race.

Why am I purporting that one be intrepid in face of ignorantly driven animosity? How do you reason with someone with the psychology of a nine year old with underlying psycho social tendencies that has nothing to do with you?

How profoundly do I believe that my concepts will be internalized by a society that is more interested in instant gratification, bling culture and being ingrates to people with money? How do I convince them to begin to dig deeper than popular belief to embrace the truth of the universe. People tell me I have changed. Yes I have grown much into myself in five years of blogging. Finding my true purpose, day in and day out.
I read a book that claimed that the true meaning of life is growing into our full potentials as sentient beings.

What happens when I die? The laws of nature suggest that energy never dies, it just moves from one host to another. I read a book written by a Buddhist years ago that claims that death to the organized mind is but yet the next great adventure. Another book suggests that every life we live, we experience it on a different plane. If we make the most of this life then we are birthed into the next realm into a better life.
It does offer some comfort to know that death is not permanent unconsciousness infinitely.

I do believe we live on in our children and that is how we gain immortality. I do however subscribe to this philosophy being that we eat plants and animals, when we die, plants and animal feed on our decomposing corpse. Life within itself is one great cycle.
I envision that death must be like when I fall asleep and the night events past with me being ignorant of it. I also assume that dying must be like the fight I have with my eyes when I try to stave off sleep but it eventually beats me.

My body involuntarily does what it wants despite what my mind tells it to. That's the revelation, this world, its illusions, the unknown, all exist in my head..
Hence my belief in Karma....

I am no greater than any other human, just being true to myself...
